1. What coatings do you offer?

Some of the coatings we offer are Teflon®, Xylan®, Halar®, Epoxy, Polyester, Nylon, Urethane, and dry film coatings to name a few.

2. What materials can you apply coating to?

We can coat most materials that can withstand the curing temperatures of the coatings. Substrates that heavily oxidize or "bloom" when exposed to heat are not good candidates.

3. What temperature does the coating cure at?

The coatings we apply have cure temperatures that vary from 250°F (120°C) to 800°F (425°C).

4. What are the operating temperatures of the coatings Plas-Tech applies?

The operating temperature range varies by coating, be we cover the range from cryogenic to 500°F (260°C).

5. What is your current lead time?

Our lead times can vary depending upon the quantity and complexity of the parts being coated. Generally our lead times run 3 to 5 working days. For large orders, we can ship partial lots. If you need faster lead times, call us, we will give you an honest answer to your request.

6. Can I pay with a credit card?

Plas-Tech Coatings can accept payments made with MasterCard or Visa cards.

7. Can I expedite an order?

Let us know your requirement, and we will tell you if our best effort can meet your needs. In the rare instance when we must work dedicated overtime to meet your needs, we will provide you with a firm price up-front.

8. How long will the coating last?

The life of the coating is dependant upon the application and operating conditions. You can be assured that Plas-Tech will recommend the best coating(s) for your application.

9. Can worn or damaged coatings be repaired or re-applied?

In most cases, coatings that are worn or damaged cannot be repaired. However, in many cases, the old coating can be stripped off and re-applied.

10. What colors do you offer?

Depending on the coating selected for your application, we may have only one color (usually black) or we may have up to a dozen colors available. In some cases, custom colors can be made (additional fees may apply).

11. Are any of your coatings FDA approved?

For food contact uses, there are a number of coatings that comply with the FDA regulations in 21 CFR governing components of coatings for direct food contact. For medical uses, each coating must be tested against the criteria dictated by its end use.

12. Are any of your coatings NSF approved?

NSF approval requires submitting documentation particular to the coating and its end use. We have supported our customers in numerous successful NSF submissions.

13. What are your hours?

Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.

14. Do you have a quality manual?

Yes, we do have a quality manual and it is available for inspection at our site.

15. Can we conduct a quality audit at our facility?

Yes, we encourage you to visit us and conduct a quality audit at our facility.

16. What coating would you recommend for________?

The recommendations below are based solely on the performance of the coating film. Operating environment (temperature, wear issues, etc.) and part design (substrate material, need for masking, etc.) will often result in the selection of a coating other than those mentioned below.

A. What coating would you suggest for release?

In general terms, our PT-82 and PT-76 coatings have the best release characteristics.

B. What coating would you offer for low friction?

The PT-15x series of coatings offer the lowest coefficient of friction.

C. What coating would you recommend for corrosion resistance (of the substrate)?

For non immersion applications, PT-100 Teflon® (FDA 21 CFR compliant) is the best coating for preventing corrosion of the substrate. For immersion applications, PT-53 (FDA 21 CFR and USP Class VI compliant); PT-55 (USP Class VI complaint); PT-109 Teflon® (FDA 21 CFR compliant); or PT-140 Teflon® are available, depending upon the operating environment.

D. What coating would you recommend for chemical resistance?

PT-100 Teflon® and the PT-15x Teflon® series coatings are the most chemically inert coatings we offer. However, PT-100 will protect the substrate better than the PT-15x series.

E. What coating would you recommend for electrical resistance?

Depending upon the operating environment and coating thickness requirements, PT-100 Teflon®, PT-55, and the PT-6x series offer the best electrical resistance properties.
